Ali Murat Başçeri, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Nicosia, provided information about the ongoing e-government projects in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). He particularly emphasized the importance of the digitalization process carried out on the Land Registry and Cadastre Information System (TAKBİS).
The Ambassador underscored that e-government efforts accelerated significantly starting from 2022, noting that Turkey’s contributions in this process began under the framework of the e-government project signed in 2011. Başçeri mentioned that significant steps have been taken to strengthen the e-government infrastructure of TRNC public institutions, and that the financial cooperation protocols signed between Turkey and TRNC since 2014 have also provided resources for these projects.
Role of the Ünal Üstel Government
Başçeri also highlighted the contributions of the current government during this process. He stated that the government led by Prime Minister Ünal Üstel has shown a determined approach towards e-government projects and that significant progress has been made compared to the period from 2011 to 2022. He expressed that this determination regarding e-government has laid the groundwork for the development of many projects beneficial to the people.
Evaluating the progress made after 2022, Başçeri remarked, “Since 2022, under the leadership of Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, we have made strides far beyond what we could achieve from 2011 to 2022.” In this context, he thanked Üstel for his determination.
