Details of the Accident
On July 28, 2026, at around 8:30 AM, a traffic accident occurred in Boğazköy, where Rasul Jorayev, who was critically injured following Hasan Düzgen, passed away in the hospital. The 29-year-old Jorayev was in intensive care at Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital. With his death despite all efforts, the toll from this tragic accident has now risen to two.
The Accident and Subsequent Developments
The aforementioned accident took place at the Kamacı Garaj area on the Boğazköy-Gönyeli main road. The vehicle involved in the accident was being driven by a Congolese driver, J.P.A., who lost control while navigating a curve and veered off the road. This led to a collision with a curb, then two parked cars on the roadside, and finally struck two pedestrians nearby.
In the incident, 39-year-old Hasan Düzgen died at the scene, while Rasul Jorayev, who was severely injured, was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Following the accident, it was reported that the driver fled the scene on foot and was captured six hours later while hiding inside a broken-down truck in the Pınarbaşı mandıralar area. Investigations suggest that the driver had been living illegally in the country and there were drugs found in the vehicle.
