The Customs Employees Union (GÜÇ-SEN) has decided to take significant steps to prevent a similar disaster after the recent collapse of a silo. The union will conduct training sessions at the Gazimağusa Port to address potential accidents that may occur in silos belonging to the Soil Products Institution (TÜK).
Raising Awareness Through Training Sessions
In an official statement, GÜÇ-SEN noted that it is taking action following the silo collapse incident that occurred on July 24, with the aim of raising awareness among its members regarding workplace health and safety. The goal is to make employees more sensitive to workplace risks through these training sessions.
Collaboration with Occupational Safety Experts
The union also expressed that it will collaborate with Occupational Safety Experts from Denge Management Consulting and Kemal D. Tözer to implement these training sessions and ensure necessary precautions are taken. GÜÇ-SEN emphasized that the safety of employees is a top priority and highlighted the importance of such training initiatives.
The statement included, “We are launching workplace health and safety initiatives that the government is obligated to fulfill. Identifying risks in work environments and taking effective measures accordingly is vital for us.” GÜÇ-SEN affirmed its commitment to taking all necessary precautions to ensure that all employees can work in a safe environment.
