The head of Hamas’ Political Bureau, Khalil al-Hayya, will make his first visit to Egypt immediately after taking on leadership duties. In this visit, the Hamas delegation is expected to meet with General Hasan Rashad, the head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service. The primary aim of the visit is to advance discussions regarding the establishment of a permanent ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
According to sources from Hamas, this high-level delegation headed by Khalil al-Hayya will arrive in Cairo at night. This visit is highly significant as it comes shortly after Hayya assumed the presidency of Hamas. Egypt is noted for its crucial role in the peace processes in the region.
During the talks, several issues related to the Palestinian cause, particularly the ceasefire agreement for the Gaza Strip, are expected to be on the agenda.
