Two separate traffic accidents occurred yesterday evening on the Lefkoşa-Güzelyurt main road and the Ercan-İskele road, resulting in one person sustaining serious injuries. Both drivers involved were arrested, and the police have launched an investigation into the incidents.
The first accident happened around 11:00 PM on the Lefkoşa-Güzelyurt road. A vehicle driven by Özkan Uslu collided with Atamurat Sheripov, who was crossing from the opposite lane on an electric scooter. Sheripov was seriously injured in the impact and was transported to Lefkoşa Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital. After the initial treatment at the hospital, he was placed under observation in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
After the accident, Özkan Uslu was arrested by the police. Following the incident, security measures on the Lefkoşa-Güzelyurt main road were intensified to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
The second accident took place on the Ercan-İskele main road. Here, a driver named Cem Şen caused an accident while driving under the influence of alcohol. To avoid hitting a car that was turning right in front of him, Şen swerved left and collided with a parked vehicle. The impact of this collision caused his vehicle to hit another parked car.
Although no one was injured as a result of the accident, Cem Şen was arrested for driving under the influence. Following the accidents, the police continue their detailed investigations into both incidents.
