The Cyprus Wetland Society and Nature Lovers Group will organize an environmental cleanup at the Salamis Wetland on Saturday, August 15. The event will take place between 6:30 AM and 7:30 AM, inviting participants to join in this cleanup aimed at raising awareness about nature conservation.

Yusuf Şentuğ, who called on everyone sensitive to nature to meet in the parking area of Yeniboğaziçi Public Beach, emphasized the significance of such organizations in raising environmental awareness. He drew attention to the seriousness of pollution in the Salamis area, noting that the waste in the region harms the ecosystem.
Şentuğ expressed that the Salamis forest wetland is under serious threat due to various wastes. He highlighted the potential harm that plastic bottles, packaging, and other waste could cause to the region’s endemic plants, birds, and marine life. These events organized for nature lovers not only aim to clean the environment but also to foster social awareness.
Cleanup Efforts with Local Support
The Yeniboğaziçi Municipality will provide logistical support for the collection of waste and necessary cleaning equipment during the event. Additionally, gloves and eco-friendly bags to be used for the cleanup will be sourced from Oza Kahve. This collaborative approach ensures that the event runs more efficiently.
