In an operation carried out at the Lokmacı checkpoint, two individuals were arrested for carrying illegal drugs while attempting to cross into northern Cyprus. The police shared details of the incident with the public.
Operation Details
According to police sources, around 12:30 PM yesterday, a person entering the TRNC at the Lokmacı crossing was caught with a piece of paper suspected to contain drugs. It was determined that T.D.K. (34 years old) had approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine in his possession. Additionally, a piece of paper believed to contain synthetic cannabinoids was also seized from this individual.
During further investigation connected to this individual, another person named M.B. (35 years old) was also apprehended. It is thought that the three pieces of paper found in M.B.’s possession contain synthetic cannabinoids. Furthermore, two glass pipes and a pair of scissors were seized on suspicion of drug residue.
Other Arrests and Incidents
In another incident in Alayköy, an employee was found to have stolen aluminum materials belonging to the company. A person named I.Ö. (51 years old) sold the stolen aluminum to another business between April 18 and July 21, acquiring a total of 46,660 TL through fraudulent means.
Additionally, two individuals were arrested during inspections in the Güzelyurt and İskele regions for possessing baseball bats, iron rods, and knives in their vehicles. Legal actions were also initiated against five individuals living in the TRNC without permits.
