The Agricultural Authority has reported findings of pesticides in some local agricultural products during inspections conducted between August 21-27, 2026. During these inspections, excess pesticide residues were detected beyond the recommended levels in both cup and round tomatoes, as well as charlotte peppers.
Following the controls, it was reported that out of 13 samples taken from local products, 10 were clean, while 3 were found to contain pesticides that were either beyond the recommended levels or not permitted. These findings were revealed through analyses conducted by the Agricultural Authority, which operates under the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Due to the detection of unauthorized pesticide residues in cup and round tomatoes belonging to local farmer Hilat Aydınç in Bostancı, the decision has been made to destroy these products. In another instance, charlotte peppers from producer Hasan Alyakut in Yeşilyurt were found to contain excessive pesticide residues, resulting in the suspension of the harvest.
The importance of these inspections for the health of local products has been highlighted once again. It was reported that all 42 samples taken from imported products were found to be clean, contributing to the assurance of food safety.
The Agricultural Authority announced that it will continue to implement measures strictly to protect public health, conducting analyses in compliance with European Union standards.
