In a drug operation conducted in a hotel room in Beylerbeyi, Girne, B.G. and his girlfriend N.P. were arrested. During the raid, 55 grams of methamphetamine, 32 pills believed to be drugs, a precision scale, and a glass pipe were seized. While the two suspects were released on bail, it was noted that N.P. had a prior bail from a similar offense on June 9.
Police officer Adnan Kardeşler from the Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Directorate stated in court that the suspects were arrested on August 13 and that the investigation was concluded. Kardeşler highlighted that B.G. had no prior criminal record, while N.P. had a history of similar offenses. Based on this information, the police requested the suspects to be released on bail.
During the hearing, B.G. argued that the drugs found in the hotel room had no connection to his girlfriend, while N.P. claimed that she was only present in the hotel room. Based on the statements of both suspects, the court decided to set different bail conditions considering the seriousness of the crime.
The judiciary ruled that B.G. must deposit 50,000 TL in cash and be released with a bail bond of one million TL signed by a citizen of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. On the other hand, N.P. was ordered to deposit 100,000 TL in cash and be released with a one million TL bail bond signed separately by two citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
As the case progresses, there is anticipation regarding how it will unfold, with indications that both suspects may face further judicial processes in the coming days.
