The Iskele Municipality has opened a new playground and recreation area to meet the needs of the Topçuköy community. Built on a total area of 7,800 square meters, the facility is designed to host enjoyable activities. The opening ceremony took place on August 22, 2026.
Attending the opening event were Iskele Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu, his wife Özlem Sadıkoğlu, Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, Iskele Municipal Council members, the village chief of Topçuköy, and local residents. The official opening of the completed park was conducted by a young Topçuköy resident, İsmail Osum. Osum emphasized that the new park would be a fun space for children where they could create many joyful memories.
Thank You Speech from Mayor Sadıkoğlu
In his speech, Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu stated that the municipality would serve many villages. He expressed his belief that the Topçuköy Playground and Recreation Area would benefit the community for many years to come. Additionally, Sadıkoğlu thanked all the staff who contributed to the project, the Topçuköy chief, and the villagers, underlining the motto “Service is a matter of the heart.”
A Day Filled with Events
Fun activities were organized after the opening. Various events for children were arranged, and Mayor Sadıkoğlu distributed gifts to the kids. Moreover, the Larnaca Youth Union Basketball Team held a 15-minute exhibition match. To conclude the evening, Ayşen Barışsal and her Orchestra performed, creating enjoyable moments filled with music.
The new park area includes basketball and volleyball courts, children’s play structures, walking paths, fitness stations, and a snack bar. Additionally, themed bee and hive figures, named Honey Hill due to Topçuköy’s association with beekeeping and honey, are also featured in the park.
