Asım Akansoy, Deputy Group Leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), strongly criticized the absence of government MPs from the extraordinary session of the Republic Assembly, which was called due to increasing security concerns. He emphasized the seriousness of the community safety issue, asserting that this situation would not change the realities of the country.
Akansoy stated that the government’s absence from the parliamentary meeting, which is a democratic process, is unacceptable, particularly when it comes to discussing security issues. He expressed the need for important matters regarding people’s safety and property to be addressed.
He pointed out that the Assembly should serve as a platform to question the measures taken by the government and to bring attention to its shortcomings, warning that the government’s indifference to societal security issues could have severe consequences. He stressed the necessity of treating community safety with utmost seriousness.
Furthermore, Akansoy expressed that the government should take responsibility in such critical agenda items and be accountable in Parliament, stating: “I unequivocally condemn the government’s absence from the Assembly on such an important agenda.” He noted that ignoring the community’s security issues would render solving them impossible.
Finally, he asserted that Parliament must act with the awareness that security is a societal issue, indicating that community safety is vital for a country’s stability. He stated that this matter urgently requires attention and resolution.
