The Director of the Flag Radio and Television Institution (BRTK), Meryem Özkurt, announced that there will be changes to the frequencies of radio and television broadcasts. This announcement was made to inform viewers about significant changes. Starting from August 16, it is planned to transfer the existing frequencies from the Türksat 3A satellite to other higher-capacity satellites.
Old Satellite’s Lifespan is Ending
Özkurt indicated that the Türksat 3A satellite, which started operating in 2008, has reached the end of its technological lifespan. This situation necessitates changing the frequencies of the television and radio broadcasts on this satellite. It is stated that transitioning to new-generation satellites aims to improve broadcast quality.
What Viewers Need to Pay Attention To
During the transition to the new broadcast frequencies, it has been noted that viewers do not need to adjust the angle of their satellite dishes or set up a new antenna. Additionally, up-to-date satellite receivers compatible with the Türksat Channel Update System (TKGS) will automatically perform frequency updates. However, a warning was issued that manual adjustments will be needed for older satellite receivers.
Özkurt emphasized that necessary technical works are ongoing to ensure that viewers can continue watching broadcasts without interruption. She expressed confidence that the transition to the new generation satellite system would enhance BRTK’s broadcast quality.
